[Photo/Daily post]Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for calling on Kenyans to pray.Uhuru made the announcement on Wednesday at State House in Nairobi, where he called for an extended period of prayer and reconciliation.He further declared that Sunday October 22, 2017 will be a National Prayer Day."After consultations with religious leaders, I have reached this decision to call on all Kenyans to pray for their country in their mosques, temples and churches, culminating in a National Day of Prayer on Sunday 22 nd october2017," said Uhuru."On that day we will be asking for God’s blessing for our nation: we will also ask God to abide with us, and to guide us, both in this period, and in time to come. We will pray for our leaders: that they may be granted wisdom, humility, and that they may love peace and justice. We will also pray for each other," the president added.However, Khalwale who is a loyal supporter of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) told Uhuru that what Kenyans need urgently is a free and fair election but not prayers."Not that we aren't a God-fearing people, but surely Mr President, what Kenya needs urgently isn't national prayers but free & fair elections," Khalwale posted on twitter, Wednesday.
