Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is against the proposed amendment to the 2010 Constitution.
Khalwale on Wednesday said the push to amend the document that was promulgated at Uhuru Park in 2010 is not in good faith and Kenyans may end up having a life president.
He said there is no need to introduce senior posts in government as this would balloon the country's wage bill.
The former Ikolomani MP said Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General's Tuesday's call that the law be amended to allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to serve the country at a different capacity should be rejected.
He said Atwoli did not independently make the statement he made during celebrations to mark Labour Day at Nairobi's Uhuru Park.
"This Atwoli outburst is not by accident! The desperadoes of the change the Constitution are squarely behind him," he said.
"Kenyans must remember that in Burundi and Uganda this is how it started and before they knew it they were stuck with presidents for life! We must emphatically say no!"
Atwoli that amending the Constitution will enable more Kenyans especially those who lose in election be accommodated in government.
"We need to amend the Constitution. Let us use the Bomas Draft, because the problem we have now is exclusion. Not everyone can be president, the Constitution should be amended to accommodate more people," he said.
Opposition chief Raila Odinga and majority politicians from both Jubilee and NASA have endorsed the amendment that Deputy President William Ruto has rejected.
