Former Kakamega Senator Dr. Bonny Khalwale has hit out at diplomats over their remarks that 'self-declared People's President' Raila Odinga should recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as the legitimate President of Kenya.
Through his official Twitter account, Khalwale said with the possibility of the envoys taking part in the dialogue between the National Super AllianceAlliance (NASA) and the Jubilee government, the envoys should avoid taking sides.
"As potential interlocutors, foreign missions can not be the ones issuing statements on behalf of Jubilee demanding that NASA first recognizes the Uhuru presidency before any dialogue," Khalwale tweeted on Sunday.
In a joint statement on Saturday, 11 envoys from United States (USA), Germany, United Kingdom (UK) among others asked said Raila to recognize Kenyatta as the legitimate President as one of the conditions for dialogue meant to address the current political stalemate in the country.
The envoys are said to be trying to broker a deal between the President and NASA chiefs in a bid to end the political tensions currently being witnessed.
Raila who swore himself in as the People's President together with the National Super Alliance (NASA) leadership has insisted that President Kenyatta was not validly elected following a controversial last year's October 26 repeat President poll.
