Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged the Wiper party, Amani National Congress (ANC) party and Ford Kenya party to officially formalize themselves as the opposition.
Khalwale has said that Orange Democratic Party (ODM) showed they had joined the government during the NASA Senators' meeting with Raila Odinga over the ouster of Senator Wetangula.
"The choreography that played at yesterday's NASA senators meeting over Senator Moses Wetang'ula merely confirmed what some people don't want to admit, ie the Orange Democratic Movement party has bolted to government. ANC, Ford Kenya and Wiper party must now formalize their status as the opposition," twitted Boni Khalwale on Friday.
Khalwale's Tweet came a day after a move by ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, to save Senator Moses Wetangula's leader of minority position failed. Wetang'ula had been replaced with Siaya Senator James Orengo.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, Raila said that there are a number of issues raised by senators that needed to be addressed first before saving Wetang'ula's position.
“We have agreed that senators will go for a retreat within the next 14 days and discuss issues regarding the operation within the Senate, how to deal with issues which have been contentious and report back to the Summit within two weeks,” Mr Odinga said.
