[Photo|Busia County Government]Khetia's Supermarket has opened a new branch in Busia town, bringing to 12 the number of branches the retail chain has opened in six counties of Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu and Busia.Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi presided over the official opening on Wednesday at the premises that had housed Nakumatt Supermarket, flanked by the Khetias Supermarket Director Ashok Khetia and County Trade Director Vincent Asikoye.Khetia said about Sh150 million was spent in starting the new branch in Busia, adding that 90 people from the County had been employed."More will be employed if the business picks up. We shall open more outlets in Busia with the support of the county residents. Plans are in the offing to start a new branch in Kisii. We might also consider extending our investments to neighboring Uganda in the near future," he said.Ashok assured consumers in Busia Kenya and Eastern Uganda that Khetia's Supermarket is the destination to be for cheaper and affordable food stuffs, households and electronics.Eldoret and Bungoma are leading with each having three branches of the retail chain. Kisumu and Kitale have two each with Kakamega and Busia having one each.Mulomi said Busia County government welcomes investors into the County, adding that the investment policy had been passed by the County Assembly and was only awaiting for the regulations.He urged the retail chain to consider purchasing products from the locals like vegetables, onions, tomatoes and peanut butter among others so as to make them feel part of the market supply chain.
