Some residents of Kiairia Sub-Location in Githunguri Ward, Githunguri Constituency have accused their MP Njoroge Baiya of sidelining them in favour of other areas.
Speaking after Madaraka Day Celebrations on Monday at Githunguri Market, the residents said that the area lacks piped water, has bad roads and they do not access government funds like Uwezo.
"The MP has totally forgotten us and we no longer feel like he is our leader. We only hear that he comes to his Githiga home," said George Kioi, a 70-year old dairy farmer.
The residents who are mostly dairy farmers and market traders asked for a quick intervention on the Kanjuku-Kiamaiko Road which they said is pivotal in their day-to-day activities but which has become impassable.
"We need a good road to ferry our milk and farm produce to the market but Kanjuku Road has become a nightmare," Lydia Wanjiku, another farmer said.
"As market traders, ours has been lack of funds. We have tried loans from Kenya Women and Uwezo Fund to no avail. We have now turned to shylocks who end up auctioning our property when we fail to repay their loans which have exorbitant interest rates," said Agnes Njeri, a trader at Githunguri market.
