The deputy governor claims that governor Mutua diverted the funds without seeking the approval of the county assembly and the executive members.

Kiala says that the county currently has no funds to cater for the welfare of the elderly persons.

He said that efforts to have the funds remitted back to the Social Welfare Fund have hit a snag.

“It is sad that the governor can decide on his own to divert funds meant for the elderly persons to other projects,” he said on phone.

The Deputy Governor observed that elderly persons who were supposed to benefit from the social fund are now languishing in poverty.

However reacting to the claims, the governor termed them as baseless and meant to tarnish his name.

He instead accused some politicians of politicizing development projects in the county.

Mutua said that he will not be moved by politicians who are enemies of development.
