Kiala was speaking in Ekalakala, Masinga on February 26, 2016 when he went to condole with residents who lost their loved ones after the boat they were using to cross from Muthesya to Ekalakala capsized.

Kiala was accompanied by Machakos county woman representative Dr Susan Musyoka.

He said that Sh300m was allocated to help when such cases arise but it's unfortunate that the money is just lying idle while people are perishing.

"I wonder why so much money was allocated to help deal with such accidents yet they can't utilise it for disaster management like what happened in Masinga," said kiala.

He requested that a bridge be constructed to help people easily cross without risking their lives and which governor Mutua promised early 2015.

Musyoka on the other side expressed her concern over lost lives and vowed to recruit divers who can save lives in such incidents.
