Machakos Deputy governor Bernard Kiala has said that he is ready to contest against Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti and her running mate East Africa Legislative Assembly member Peter Mathuki as the governorship race takes shape.

Speaking at the Wiper Party head quarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Kiala said that he is well prepared to give the two leaders a run for their money.

"I am ready for her to join me in facing Machakos citizens who will democratically make the decision on who their Wiper candidate, and ultimately their governor, will be after August 8," he said as quoted by Star.

The deputy county boss also welcomed the former legislator into the race to dethrone Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua.

"I am not party to negotiations that led to the deal between her and her running mate. Ndeti is welcome to procedurally seek the Wiper ticket for the political seat of her choice," he added.

Wavinya Ndeti urged leaders to speak in one voice to enable the former vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka become the next head of state.

"It is good for us to unite and work together because unity is strength. I am telling the whole country...you will never see Ukambani divided. We, the Akamba, will be united and speak in unity because we have about 2.5 million votes in Kenya and cannot be underrated,” she said.
