Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has condoled with the family of radio journalist Waweru Mburu who died on Wednesday evening.
Until his death, Mburu was the head of programmes at Radio Citizen.
In a post published on the deputy governor's official Facebook page on Wednesday, Kiala described the late Mburu as the one of the best radio journalists Kenya has ever produced and a crusader for human rights and good governance.
"He was one of the best journalists in Kenya who always advocated for good governance, good leadership and accountability," he said.
"He was also a strong crusader for human rights especially for the poor in our society," he added.
The veteran journalist famed for his popular programme "Yaliyotendeka" that aired on Radio Citizen died while undergoing treatment at MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi after a long battle with gastric cancer.
