Kiamaina area Chief Peter Kariuki has advised parents in the area not to give their teens money which he claims deviate them from studies.
Speaking on Monday in Kiamaina Slums, Bahati Ward during a public meeting, Chief Kariuki blamed parents on all troubles bedevilling youth in the area.
Chief Kariuki said that school going children have been flocking in Cyber Cafes to watch pornographic contents and videos.
“Why should parents, guardians give their children money only for the children to go to a Cyber Cafe to watch pornographic contents?,” posed Chief Kariuki also noting that the money given to teens end up in bars.
“The rise of alcohol consumption among school going children have been attributed to parents who give their children money,” added Kariuki adding that parents have abandoned their parental roles in shaping the destinies of their children.
“I’ve personally witnessed a 14-year-old lad in a bar, a situation that is posing fear on how rotten our moral values are,” said Chief Kariuki.
He however acknowledged that Cyber Cafes provide useful channels for education research and he urged youth to use internet wisely for strictly education purpose only.
