Speaking on Monday in his constituency in Kiambu County, he attributed the lapse in security to insufficient funds to finance security operations in the interior and coordination docket.

He therefore urged other law makers to support the bill to address the upsurge in insecurity and terror activities.

“I urge the government to review the issue of security because it is the most sensitive. I will see to it that the funds allocated to security goes up to 20-25 percent in the next financial year,” said Koinange.

He has also called for heightened security for all VIP’s homes as well as deployment of more security officers to guard the president’s and the deputy president’s residence.

In addition, he has called upon the government to introduce technologically advanced mechanisms to fight insecurity, including installation of CCTV cameras in all major towns and cities across the country.

“The problem of insecurity can only be handled by devising new methods that are up to date. Let the government use mobile surveillance cameras like the ones used in the US and have been successful. The government should monitor all activities taking place within its borders,” added the MP.

He also urged the public to be on the frontline to fight insecurity at grassroots levels, as well as reporting all criminal activities to relevant authorities.

“Security starts with you and me. The government needs your support by reporting suspicious persons to the police so that we can avert loss of lives through such activities,” he said.
