Kiambaa lawmaker Paul Koinange has warned youth in the constituency against engaging in criminal activities.
Speaking at Karuri grounds in Kiambaa during the re-launch of the NYS projects, the MP said he had received reports about a section of youth in the area engaging in crime.
The lawmaker noted that some youth are being lured into criminal activities like drug trafficking and robbery.
“Our young people should completely shun criminal activities and instead support development projects initiated by the government,” said the lawmaker.
Mr Koinange urged the youth to take advantage of the Uwezo Funds and start business.
“The government has taken the initiative of sponsoring youth through business funds. I would like to encourage the youth to apply for the funds and venture into business,” said Koinange.
The lawmaker however asked the national and the county government to start more programmess that will empower young people.
He observed that empowering young people, women and disabled persons is a sure way of promoting development.
The MP on the same note lauded the NYS for re-launching its programmess in the constituency.
The legislator said that through the NYS projects, development will be accelerated in the constituency and services made accessible to the locals.
