Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has said that he is going to push for an increase of allocations to the security docket to at least 20% of the national government’s budget in the coming financial year.
Koinange has said that security organs in the country are facing huge financial challenges despite an increase in insecurity and terrorism.
"Financial constraints have been a big impediment to our security forces and that is why I will push for more money to be allocated to the security docket when the motion on that comes to parliament," said Koinange.
He also called for the installation of CCTV cameras in all major towns in the country to help fight crime and terrorism.
"We need CCTV cameras to help monitor the activities going on in our streets. I would also ask the government to consider buying Mobile Surveillance Scanners vehicles, that will help further in reinforcing our security," he added.
The MP also wants VIPs' homes to be given more security personnel.
Koinange was speaking yesterday in Kiambaa where he issued two police patrol vehicles bought with area CDF money.
