The weatherman on Monday warned that the heavy rains will last up to 40 minutes in 24 hours.

The meteorological department advised Kenyans to brace themselves for heavy rains this season, that began early this month although it shall not be as intense as the previous seasons.

Among the regions listed to experience heavy rains include; Central Kenya, Nairobi, Western region and South and Central Rift Valley. Kiambu, Nyeri and Murang'a are among the counties that have been earmarked to receive heavy rains in Central Kenya.

According to the Meteorological Services Director Peter Ambeje, Nairobi is also at a risk of experiencing floods and residents should remain alert since "floods and fast-moving water are extremely dangerous".

In Nairobi, flash floods are expected in Mathare, Ruai, Nairobi West, Muthangari, Huruma, Kibera, Baba Dogo, Pangani among others.

The Ukambani region has also not been left out as it will experience heavy rains in the mornings starting this Wednesday. Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo and the coastal region counties will also experience heavy rains.
