Speaking from his office today, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Nge’tich said that the crackdown was aimed at arresting those breaking the law.

He added that the crime had gone up in the region stating that people would wake up to drink as early as 7am.

The police boss added that the bar owners were arrested and further added that it wasn’t the end of the crackdown.

He said, “It is a crime to allow people to drink before the stipulated time set by the law and they know it. It’s just a matter of ignorance and greed for money that leads to such crimes. We are however working to ensure that this crime is wiped out in the region.”

Ng’etich warned men who are also fond of drinking before time that they will be arrested too. He urged them to adhere to the stipulated times to avoid arrest.
