The bar owners had gone to court to oppose new levies which they claimed were far way beyond their reach.

For now the bar owners will have to pay the levies following high Court ruling.

However, the bar owners led by the Chairman of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce Kiambu Branch, Thinguri Warwathe, have vowed to appeal the case soon.

"We know the court has decided but we will be appealing at the Court of Appeal but in the meantime I would like to ask the county government not harass anyone as they implement the court's decision," said Warwathe.

The county government has not been collecting levies from bars pending determination of the case.

On Tuesday County Public Health Officers were in Kiambu Town to scrutinise the bars afresh to identify the ones to be allowed to continue and the ones to be closed down.
