Kiambu County Youth and Sports executive member Machel Waikenda has called on the residents of Kiambu County to remain calm as the committee evaluating the Kiambu Biashara fund finalises the activity.
Waikenda said that he has been criticised and faulted for the delayed disbursement of the kitty funds but he is in the final stage of the disbursements.
He added he will be collecting the names from the respective banks before commencing the disbursement next week.
Speaking from his office on Tuesday, Waikenda said that his social media accounts have been flocked by messages from Kiambu county residents more so youths who have been waiting for the fund for a long time.
He further commended the people of Kiambu for being patient and understanding the situation.
He said the committee was overwhelmed due to the numerous applications that they received.
“We received over 10,000 applications and we had to vet as well as evaluate the beneficiaries who have qualified. The kitty is in the final stages of the evaluation and we are picking the names of the beneficiaries from the bank next week for the disbursement,” he said.
The residents have been called on to be patient and those that will be disqualified have been urged to re-apply immediately by following the necessary procedures and giving the right information in their applications.
He called on the beneficiaries that will receive the funds to ensure they utilise it well and wisely.
