The ACK Mt. Kenya South bishop Timothy Ranji has called for the strengthening of the family foundation in a bid to overcome the indiscipline witnessed among children in the society. He also added that women should be empowered for they play a central role in the family institution in the country.
“Women spend more time with the children in the homesteads. They should be given the right knowledge and skills that will assist them impart the same on their children,” said bishop Ranji.
The clergy said this on Monday at the Kiambu ACK church where he addressed over 500 women delegates from 86 parishes in the county during a Women’s conference that ended the same day.
During the five-day conference, women were also trained on how they can reach to the disadvantaged in society like the widows, widowers, orphans and those in prisons.
On another note, Ranji disclosed that they work with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in relation to empowering the youth whereby the orphans are given goats and cows that supply milk which they can sell.
He also noted that through the Anglican Development Services, they also dig sand dams, initiate green houses, provision of water tanks and beehives that empower women in the community to fend for themselves.
