Addressing the public at Kijabe town on Monday, the MP called for intensified police patrols in the county.

He said that nothing should be left to chance, and that criminal gangs should be dealt with according to the law.

The lawmaker said that residents have a right to security, which the county and the national government must be able to provide.

“Security personnel should not sleep but work around the clock to secure Kenyans,” he said.

The legislator said that development would not be realized in Lari if safety of residents and businessmen is not guaranteed.

Kahangara at the same time appealed to locals to support the police in their efforts to boost peace.

He said security enforcers have an enormous responsibility of securing the county, and they should be supported in every way.

The MP further asked the government to deploy more police officers in schools and universities in the county.

He said that time has come for the government to use every machinery to combat crime, adding that it is no longer business as usual.

The MP at the same time urged youths to desist from joining criminal gangs and other groups, and instead work with their leaders to promote development.
