Kiambu County Assembly Members (MCAs) were on Friday morning called for a special session to deliberate on the county’s supplementary budget.
Speaking at the precincts of the assembly chambers ahead of the session, Limuru Ward MCA Njenga Murugami said he does not expect that there will be major issues in the budget.
"As you know, our budget is at Sh 100 million. We cannot stretch it further,” said Njenga.
Njenga added that if the county government has to add more expenses, it has to seek public approval.
“I expect the budget to be precise and simple. I think the things the county government is seeking to fund with the money are generally recurrent,” noted Njenga.
He added that they only need to seek for funds to cater for emergencies.
"We have heard there is a shortage of drugs in Kiambu hospitals and casual workers. This are some of the things we need to look fund for,” he added.
The MCA however noted that there are unconfirmed reports that the county government could be seeking funds to buy 50 posh vehicles which he has said it is impossible for now.
"If they have to buy these vehicles they have to wait until the main budget is passed," said Njenga.
