Kiambu County Commissioner Esther Maina has urged Kiambu locals to remain alert and supply information to police on suspected criminals.

Speaking when she met security officials in Kikuyu today, Maina said that police are on alert to deal with law breakers. Maina said county law enforcers will act on every intelligence they get in a bid to guarantee safety of the people.

“We are going to be strict and work on every information presented to us by the members of the public or from other government agencies,” she said.

The Kiambu commissioner directed sub county deputy commissioners to ensure that 24-hour police patrols are conducted in their respective areas.

She warned officers who are laxity in responding to distress calls saying that they will not be tolerated. She also warned police officers who allegedly colluded with criminals saying that they will not be tolerated.

“Security officers in Kiambu must exercise and discipline and serve the public diligently. Those found to be contravening the law will be arrested and charged in court,” said Maina.

At the same time, Maina assured students and staff in all learning institutions of their security saying that the county is working with the national government to have police officers deployed to schools.

She said that security patrols will be intensified across schools, health centres and shopping malls across Kiambu.

Maina urged business owners to invest in security measures and ensure that their customers are frisked before being allowed to access the premises.
