Security will be tightened in Kabete Constituency during the Monday by-election, Kiambu County Commissioner Esther Maina has assured.
Addressing the media at her office today, Maina said more police officers will be deployed to the constituency to make sure that voting goes on well.
Maina added that all security measures have been completed in readiness to the by-election.
She also said that they are working closely with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to make sure that voting is not interrupted.
“We are well prepared ahead of the Monday by-election, enough security personnel will be deployed to keep vigil before, during and after the by-election,” she said.
The Commissioner at the same has cautioned Kabete parliamentary seat aspirants against taking part in acts or uttering words that will threaten security even as they campaign.
Maina said that aspirant campaigns are being monitored keenly.
“Kabete parliamentary aspirants must desist from acts that threatens peace, we are monitoring the campaigns and aspirants caught or said to be fueling animosity or hatred will be dealt with according to the law,” warned Maina.
Various aspirants including former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu who is vying on Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) will square it out in the by-election.
The Kabete seat was left vacant following the death of former MP George Muchai.
