According to Kiambu town administrator, Francis Mathenge, the policy which has been effected on buildings under construction has not been embraced well.

The administrator said that the main cause of traffic congestion in the town is parking vehicles along the road as the newly constructed buildings lack parking lots.

He revealed that this has really slowed down operations and even to some extent forced traffic officers to intervene. He said that the new plan is to help curb the cases of unnecessary congestion on roads.

He said that this has also caused the sub-county administrators to offer an alternative route to public service vehicles to avoid using the town, but that hasn't reduced much so far as congestion is still a major problem due to lack of parking lots.

Mathenge added that the available parking lots usually get full leaving most motorists with no choice but to park along the road.

"We are urging all developers in the town that intend to construct buildings in Kiambu town to include parking lots to reduce congestion," said Mathenge.
