Governor William Kabogo has said Kiambu County government will establish a referral hospital in every sub-county before the next general election,
Speaking when he toured the Thika Level Hospital on Saturday, Kabogo said his government has approached several development partners to have a referral hospital in every sub-county.
Kabogo said that having referral hospitals in every sub-county will enable residents to get proper medical care and support.
“My government has approached several local and foreign development partners to help us establish referral hospitals in every sub-county within Kiambu,” said Kabogo.
Governor Kabogo said that provision of medical care remains the top agenda for his government.
He said that his government has invested heavily in healthcare, adding that a huge chunk of funds in the next financial year have been allocated to health.
Kabogo also revealed there are plans to establish specialised hospitals in Lari, Kiambu, Gatundu and Ruiru to offer special services to the people.
He noted that specialised treatment mostly for diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure are needed in the county.
“Most of our people are being forced to walk for long distances to get specialised treatment that is why the county is keen to establish specialised hospitals,” he said.
The governor also vowed to improve reproductive health in the county.
He said the county government has procured incubators and other facilities that will help promote reproductive health.
He urged residents to seek reproductive health services to help curb diseases and ailments that are related to reproduction.
