Kiambu County Government was listed among the top five counties having the largest number of bars and wines and spirits outlets.
Interior CS Fred Matiangi said this on Tuesday in Kiambu County as he started his mission to wipe out illicit brews in the area.
The cabinet secretary said that the number of clubs in Kiambu outweigh the number of both primary and secondary schools in the entire county.
Bars are estimated to be over 3000 with schools slightly above 2000.
"It is extremely sad that the number of clubs and liqour depots in entire Kiambu county outnumbers primary and secondary schools in the area. This should be a rise up call so that we can all wake up and look at the future of our children," he said.
Matiangi agonised with the residents saying that if beer will not be rooted out of the área the future generation is at risk.
He added:"Kiambu youths and children will be an endangered species if illicit brews will not come to an end."
In collaboration with Governor Ferdinand Waititu's leadership and Kiambu leaders, Matiangi promised not to turn back in the fight to wipe out illicit brews which have now been a big blow to the liqour sellers in the area.
