Ndirangu has said that the move is informed by the impact the bursaries had to poor pupils' performance in last year's national exams, and to the county as a whole.

“The County Government of Kiambu has already finalized on the allocations that we are going to give to needy Form two to Form four students as we wait the Form ones’ enrollment and vetting,” said Ndirangu.

“Our last year's allocation of Sh67 million helped a lot in keeping students in school, something that led to good performance in national exams,” added Ndirangu.

Ndirangu further noted that the need to increase the allocation was also informed by the increased number of needy pupils looking for bursaries in the county offices.

She announced that the County Governor, William Kabogo will soon launch the issuance of the bursaries in all the Sub-counties, where he will start with Kiambu and Kiambaa sub-counties.

Ndirangu was speaking to journalists on Monday in her Kiambu office.
