Residents of Ting'ang'a village, Kiambu County, are living in fear of attack by 'mad' stray dogs that are going round the villages wreaking havoc.
On Wednesday the dogs attacked one resident Hannah Wambui, who is currently admitted in Kiambu District Hospital, in her garden and almost killed her.
"The dogs came where I was in my farm. When I saw them I tried to frighten them away but they continued coming where I was and wrestled me to the ground," said Wambui.
She added, "They tore my clothes and I started to scream but no one was around and I was still with my baby tied on my back."
Area MCA Lawrence Mwaura who visited the woman in the hospital yesterday lamented that the hospital has no anti-rabies vaccines for the deadly rabies disease that the woman could be diagnosed with if the dogs were suffering from it.
"I am surprised that a hospital like Kiambu District Hospital has no anti-rabies vaccines. The woman had to pay for Sh 800 for it to be sourced elsewhere," said Mwaura.
Mwaura has now asked the County Government to tame the dogs' menace by deploying police officers in the area to shoot all the mad dogs to keep the residents safe.
