He said shortage of teachers in ECDE centres has been one of the challenges that have continued to pull down effective implementation of ECDE programme in the county.

Speaking at an inaugural ceremony for the 1,300 newly recruited teachers for all sub-counties, Kabogo said the county government was committed to improving education standards in Kiambu.

The governor told the newly recruited ECDE teachers that the county government will help them deliver but they will at the same time be expected show value for money.

"I challenge all the newly recruited teachers to take greater responsibility to deliver services, remember you will be judged if you fail in your position. Do not forget we are entrusting you with the most important and delicate school-going children," he said.

Speaking at the same event, Education Executive 0fficer Esther Ndirangu said the teachers will be deployed in all the sub-counties to reduce teacher-child ratio.

"Teacher-child ratio has been a subject of much attention to the county in relation to the learning process. The additional teachers will ease the workload of the existing teachers," she said.

Kabogo expressed satisfaction with education standards in Kiambu County arguing that if ranking schools could be conducted today, Kiambu would have emerged the best.
