Kiambu County Environment CeC Esther Njuguna has accused Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu of overseeing the destruction of county government property and littering Wangige Town.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Njuguna said that her office has recorded a statement at Kikuyu Police Station over an incident where the MP allegedly led the public to destroy a garbage tank meant for Wangige market on Monday.
She says that garbage was littered at the ward administrator's office and part of the town.
"The tank was thrown away and now we have no capacity at the moment to keep Wangige market clean", said Njuguna.
The CeC added: "The tank was meant for Wangige market traders only because they pay levies. Private individuals take responsibility of their own garbage and that is why we have licensed various groups to do the work on their behalf at a fee," she added.
Njuguna called for dialogue when misunderstandings arise saying that an elected leader should not lead the public in breaking the law. Waititu could not be reached for comment.
