The bridge connecting mwiki area and githurai 45 has finally been allocated 20 million kenya shillings by the Kiambu county government to enable its relaying as revealled by the area member of county asembly.
Speaking to the press from his office today, Member of County Assembly, Isaac Ngige said the funds have been allocated towards the construction of the bridge which was damaged by heavy rains five years ago.
“We have been having a problrem with this bridge for a very long tinme but now am pleased t announce that the county vgovernment has allocated 20 million for the project and its going to kick off very soon.” The county legislator said
Ngige said the tender documents have been finalised and that they were now waiting for the contractor to set up his base by next week to commence the construction whereby he promised that they are holding talks with the contractor to make sure more that 70 percent of the labour force is employed from the area.
The news has excited the residents who told the press that they looked forward to better communication after suffering for long over the failed bridge. They said that they are tired of wempty promises by politicianss who onlyu promise to make the bridge and later use thte same bridge to campaighn five years later.
