Kiambu County Assembly members have launched the Kiambu Women Caucus (KWC) which will act as a vehicle to implement development program amongst the vulnerable group in the county.
The caucus which consists of elected and nominated women MCAs is meant to protect the rights of vulnerable in the county.
Speaking during the launch Kiambu County Governor, William Kabogo, said that the caucus will provide transformative leadership and contribute the enactment of gender sensitive legislation.
Kabogo notes that the caucus will protect children, elderly and people with disability.
“For now the vulnerable groups will have a voice in the parliament this will see their constitution rights being protected,” said Kabogo.
Kabogo noted that the caucus will also protect the boy child who he said has been forgotten at the expense of girl child.
Kabogo has expressed his concerns with the varnishing of Maendeleo Ya Wanaume (MYW) who he said have forgotten their responsibilities.
