Women legislators in Kiambu County have hailed the government and the president’s efforts in combating the rising insecurity in the country.
A group of female leaders led by Thika MP, Alice Ng’ang’a on Monday said that the efforts carried by the government are necessary to maintain national stability in the county.
Speaking in Thika Town, Ng’ang’a said the government should protect the lives and property of Kenyan citizens, especially where there is sporadic war.
“The government has a role to protect its citizens and property and to ensure there is stability in all parts of the country,” said Ng’ang’a.
The legislator called on security agencies, political leaders and the citizens to work together to stamp out insecurity in Baringo and East Pokot counties.
She further said the government should do its best to check the emergence of bandits and insurgents in the volatile zones of the Northern Kenya.
Ng’ang’a’s remarks comes at a time when the national government has launched a massive operation in Baringo and Pokot areas, to flush out bandits who ambushed and killed 21 security officers over the weekend.
The lawmaker urged the government to seal loopholes where proliferations of small arms gain entry, further urging the government to implement comprehensive security programmes in hotspots to shield the residents from cases of insecurity.
