Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a and other Kiambu County leaders on Saturday got into a jumble when they joined protesters on their second day of demonstrations against the county government levies in Thika’s Makongeni estate
Ng’ang’a, who was accompanied by other county leaders including Kamenu MCA Mary Hussein, Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi and Kikuyu mp Kimani Ichung’wa among others condemned the county government in what they called oppressing the residents and business people.
In her part, the Thika MP swore to help the business people get ‘justice’ from the county government, and said that Kabogo must respect the residents of Kiambu County.
“People of Kiambu County have to be respected, they also have families to feed and children who need school fees. How will the people maintain their homes if you cannot consider them in the levies the county government asks for?” said Ng’ang’a.
Kikuyu MP, who held a dead chicken, compared it with Kiambu County government, saying that the county government was as good as dead.
He said that the governor ought to be impeached, noting that the leaders will not sit back and watch the county government destroy the lives of its residents
“We as Kiambu County leaders will not sit back and watch the residents being oppressed; we are going to fight for the rights of those who elected us to represent them.
“We ask ourselves why alcoholism never ends in Kiambu, this are some of the factors than contribute to increased of alcoholism since they have been turned hopeless by the county government,” said Kimani.
The demonstrations did not last for long before the police intervened and hauled teargas canisters unto them, leaving two protestors with bullet injuries, where they were rushed to Thika level 5 Hospital.
