Kiambu County Director of Education has been lauded for the recent rise in the levels of education in the county by respective leaders from the area.
According to Kiambu town Member of Parliament Jude Njomo, the education stakeholders in Kiambu have been doing a commendable job and require all the support from the leaders in implementing the newly introduced laws in the system of education.
Njomo said that there has been a group of people opposed to the regulations initiated by the Education CS Fred Matiang’i in the system to reduce rigging and exam irregularities, terming them as ill intentioned.
“If there is anyone opposing the newly introduced regulations by the CS to curb irregularities in our schools and prevent the students from scoring what they have worked for tirelessly, he/she should be warned.
Matiang’i wants good for our children am happy he is in the right ministry,” he said.
He added that the schools in Kiambu should be fully equipped with modern learning equipment, calling on all the legislators from the area to utilize more funds in the education sector.
“The National government CDF kitty will now implement 70 per cent of the national government projects like education and infrastructure and I call upon my fellow MPs to ensure they invest in the children’s education to ensure the quality and levels of education rise even more,” he added.
Speaking during the prize giving day of Thika High School, senior school Principal J. N Muraya said that last year the school registered 183 candidates with 132 scoring a B (plain) of more than 60 points each, 172 candidates scoring C+ (plus) and above while 9 candidates scored C (plain) and below.
“This year we are taking 93.3 per cent of our last year’s class to University while others will get colleges vacancies. We are impressed with the performance but we are aiming higher than that in this year’s National examination,” Muraya said.
He revealed that they have this year registered 203 candidates and have made an agreement between the students, teachers and parents that they will attain the 10.5 mean score in the oncoming examination from the current 9.37.
