Deputy President William Ruto has urged Kiambu leaders to respect Governor William Kabogo whom they elected in the office and not politicize development in the county.
Speaking in Thika town when he was laying the foundation Stone for the M-PESA Foundation Academy on Monday Ruto urged Kiambu leaders to shun away from collecting signatures and allow the county to move forward.
The DP said that elections are far and the leaders should wait for the right time to campaign and not to tear the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) apart by giving the opposition reason to politicize the issue.
He urged the leaders to distance themselves from the collection of signatures to terminate Kabogo governorship.
He said the collection of signatures is not necessary in the country and the Kiambu leaders are acting like the opposition who jumps at every opportunity available.
Ruto said that the time has come for the Kiambu leaders to engage in dialogue and put an end to the heinous behavior of politicizing development in the county.
He said that JAP needs to stand together especially during this time when Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) is spearheading the OKOA Kenya referendum in the country.
He expressed his concerns with breeding hatred in JAP and urged Kabogo to mobilize the leaders and settle the issues in a mature way.
“The hatred between leaders in Kiambu should come to an end and residents should respect the governor and not heckle him in public. We do not want any election in the country. Will we focus on the opposition with the referendum or gubernatorial election in Kiambu? Kenya has no money for elections now,” said Ruto.
