A section of Jubilee leaders from Kiambu County now wants IEBC to cancel next month repeat presidential election and swear in President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking when they staged demonstrations to criticise the Supreme Court ruling which overturned Uhuru's win, the leaders maintained the Jubilee candidate had won fairly, accusing the top court of 'stealing' their victory.
"What we read in the newspaper has come out to reinforce our belief that the judges were biased in their ruling of nullifying the presidential results. We, therefore, call for the swearing in of the president with immediate effect," said Kiambu Township MCA Antony Ikonya, as quoted by the Standard.
Former Ngewa MCA Karungo Thang'wa accused the Chief Justice David Maraga-led court of overturning the will of the people in the August 8 general election.
"IEBC should cancel the re-run election and let President Uhuru take the oath of office because he won in the August poll. The Supreme Court went to bed with the NASA leadership but deny him his deserved victory," Karungo said.
The protests by Jubilee supporters across the country broke out following reports by The Standard about a petition against some Supreme Court judges for allegedly meeting NASA lawyers before the ruling.
