Kiambu County has registered the highest number of students listing for Personal Identification Numbers.
Registration for identification PIN has seen the data of the 9,515,564 students' parents registered in the National Education Information Management System (Nemis).
The registration is done basing on possession of birth certificates and has seen Kiambu top with a total of 447,662 new registrations beating Nairobi with 447,370 which come in second position.
Nakuru and Meru come in in third and fourth position with 410,686 and 424,372 new registrations respectively.
Each pupil and student has been issued with an Identification Number that will be used by the ministry to allocate resources to individual schools across the country.
Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on Wednesday said schools' cash disbursements for free primary education programmes, free day secondary education programme and the KCPE and KCSE examinations will base on the NEMIS data.
"We therefore encourage schools to continuously and accurately update their pupil and staff data to the NEMIS environment," she said in Nairobi.
