Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has encouraged residents to venture into farming.

The governor says that farming is one of the lucrative areas residents and businessmen should venture into.

Kabogo who spoke on Friday in Kabete constituency said his government will support farming initiatives adding that enough funds have been set aside to promote and develop farming projects.

“My government recognizes the important of farming and set aside adequate funds to support farming,” he said.

Kabogo added that the government has organized forums to educate locals on the importance of farming.

He said the county has goo climate that can support any kind of farming adding that the advancement in technology has made farming easier.

Kabogo said that food security should be spearheaded by both the count and the national government.

The county boss also asked the youths in the county to take up farming as a way of earning income.

He said that farming has the potential of reducing the rising unemployment cases.

“Young people should take up farming and stop discriminating the sector,” he said.

The Kiambu governor asked the youth to use the Uwezo funds to start farming ventures.

County Agriculture Executive Monicah Waiganjo said money has been put aside to establish green houses.

“We have put aside Sh 21 million to establish green houses for farmers,” she said.
