Traders at Rakuma trading center in Lari town have appealed to the Kiambu government to construct public toilets at the trading center.
The traders are complaining that there are no public toilets at the trading center.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, the traders said lack of toilets puts their health at risk. The traders said they have been appealing to the county government to construct toilets at the centre but nothing has been forthcoming.
“The Kiambu county government need to take this matter seriously and construct toilet for us,” said Naomi Wairimu, a mitumba seller at the Rakuma shopping center.
Ms Wairimu said they (traders) are forced to relieve themselves in nearby bushes.
“It is unfortunate that the Kiambu county government has not seen the need to establish public toilets for us,” said James Kimani, a bodaboda rider at the centre.
Mr Kimani said they are forced to pay Sh50 to relieve themselves in private owned toilets around the trading center.
The traders now want their area MCA Joseph Githaiga to intervene over the matter.
They (traders) also called on area MP Mburu Kahangara to step in and ensure public toilets and other sanitary facilities are constructed at the trading center.
