Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has rubbished reports that he has decamped from President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party to the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Blaming the media, Wamwangi termed the reports as unfounded and untrue insisting that he has not joined the opposition even after meeting NASA leader Raila Odinga in his Nairobi office.
"I am unaware of where the defection theory emanated from. It is understandable coming from the Kenyan media and bloggers who knew that that line of thought would be their only avenue to hit the headlines," he said during an exclusive interview with Thika Town Today.
The MCA clarified that he was invited by Raila his to Lavington office to discuss issues related to his visit to the Kiambu County.
“Raila called me acknowledging the fact that my ward hosts the largest population of people in Thika Town Constituency perceived to be NASA’s supporters due to their ethnicity. He wanted me to give an account of how they co-existed with the natives and how his visit would affect them," Wamwangi noted.
The young MCA hit out at those who criticised the visit, saying he had no regrets of meeting the former Prime Minister nor had any apologies to make to anyone.
“If it is ok for the President to meet Raila (Odinga), what makes wrong for a young person like me to do the same? So many leaders who are actually in Jubilee Party have at one time or another done the same, even some of those who are out there crucifying us," he stated.
The visit has elicited a big debate over the association of the Kiambu MCAs with the NASA leader Raila Odinga.
