Kiambu town youths have been advised to shun activities such as drug abuse and prostitution which will ruin their lives.
Speaking to youths groups on Sunday, Kiambu town nominated MCA Lilian Wakiiya noted that many young people have resulted to social evils.
She observed that many young people are abusing drugs while others engage in prostitution.
The MCA stated that the future of the county is blink if measures are not taken to curb drug abuse among the youths.
“Cases of our youths abusing drugs and taking part in crime have risen, there is need for urgent measures to the issues,” she said.
The MCA asked the Kiambu government to come up with measures that will stop young people from abusing drugs.
She further urged the county to address the problem of unemployment which she blamed on the rising cases of drug abuse and prostitution.
Wakiiya said that many youths are idle and find it easy to abuse drugs and sell their flesh. “It is a concern that should be addressed immediately to save our teenagers,” she added.
The MCA also called for establishment of rehabilitation centers to help those who are already addicted.
She said that society must take its roles seriously and help stop social evils and problems taking place.
The MCA said that development will never be realized if young people are left to take part in crime and other social problems.
