The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) bill has unanimously been passed by Kiambu MCAs.

The bill was presented to the house by majority leader Anthony Mwaniki, who is the Kiambu town MCA.

The passed bill compels every Kiambu resident to have the NHIF cards, which will  enable each and every of them,  access medical services in the public hospitals.

This move by the Kiambu county assembly is meant to reform the health sector in the county, specifically to enable its residents to have proper health care at a less cost if not at no cost.

The Speaker Stephen Ndicho, who was the chair during the debate appreciated the passed bill terming it as progressive and that which will go into history in helping Kiambu residents.

He also said that the bill was passed at the right time, as it will improve the residents' lives.

"I am convinced that the motion is timely and most important in the history of Kiambu in aiming at improving the lives of residents." said the speaker of the county assembly of Kiambu on Thursday.

Kiambu governor, Ferdinand Waititu has pledged to sign the passed bill into a law, once it is presented to him.
