A section of members of the County Assembly has accused the bi-partisan parliamentary caucus on electoral reforms of not including them in talks to resolve the IEBC standoff.

Earlier this week MPs from both Cord and Jubilee coalitions met with an aim of ensuring that a dialogue to end the IEBC stalemate is started but that did not go well with some members of the County Assembly.

Kiambu County Ngewa Ward MCA Karungo Thang'wa said that they have been sidelined by the MPs in a matter that directly involves them too.

“We have been left out in this issue. No attempt has been made to get any MCA into the talks,” he said.

On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met with opposition leader Raila Odinga briefly at State House in what is widely seen as the first step towards resolving the IEBC standoff.

Last week, the opposition leaders announced they had suspended the weekly demos to allow time for dialogue and had given the government a one-week ultimatum to kick start the talks.

It remains unknown whether or not more people will be added to the process that seems to have stalled after both sides failed to meet last Sunday’s deadline.
