Jude Njomo claimed that Ndumberi, Kirigiti and Kinoo street lights are no longer functional after they were disconnected due to high power bills.

"The Kiambu County government with all the billions it receives from the national treasury cannot afford to pay electricity bills to light its urban centres?” asked Njomo.

Speaking in a local radio station talk show on Tuesday, the MP wondered why the county government should continue hiking levies it collects from traders and businesses while it cannot offer basic services in return.

"Most of the lights in my constituency were put up by CDF money but we left the lighting and paying of power bills to the county government because we do not have a budget for that,” he said.

Njomo has now asked the county government to pay the electricity bills saying that the areas where the lights are off are prone to insecurity.
