Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo has urged the government to improve security in all schools in the constituency.
Addressing Journalists on Tuesday when he toured the constituency, the MP raised concerns stating that security has not been heightened in schools in the area.
The MP termed the move as a serious matter, saying that the government must deploy security to all learning institutions.
“I am disturbed that despite appealing to the government to deploy police officers to all learning institutions across Kiambu, nothing has been done,” he said.
The MP said that security of students and teachers must be provided by the government.
He noted that with the terror attack on the Garissa University last month, every measure should be taken to protect students.
“The problem with us is that we forget quickly and take no precaution on security issues,” he said.
The Kiambu lawmaker appealed to the county security committee to move with speed and have police deployed to schools, hospitals and entertainment joints for security purposes.
Meanwhile, the MP has urged needy but bright students from the area to apply for bursary funds.
Njomo said there are still enough funds to pay school fees for needy students this financial year.
