Muslim leaders in Kabete, Kiambu County have called on Muslim youths to stick to religion and stop running away from the ways of the Koran. Speaking at a Madrasa class in Kabete on Tuesday, the Muslim leader Sheikh Abdi Aziz Ibrahim said that some youth in the area have turned against the ways of Allah and started engaging in other immoralities.
He added that most of them fail to go for Friday prayers and are instead found in clubs drinking alcohol and doing other kind of immoralities. "We have to live in accordance to the ways of the Koran and respect our religion. You are the next leaders and we are preparing you to be good leaders for the coming generation,” said the Muslim leader.
He added that Friday prayers are not optional but are compulsory to all Muslims. However, he condemned the few Muslims who have gone to the extent of being drunkards thus portraying the Muslim religion in a bad image. The Sheikh condemned youths who have started engaging in fornication saying it was against their religion. He added that parents should become good role models to their children and take time to teach them the ways of Allah.
Fauzia Zully a youth in the area said that youths are simply acting in a ‘digital’ way believing that religion is a thing of the past. She further explained that the main thing that affects the youth is ignorance of their religion.
Abdi Guyo, a parent, claimed that parents are a great influence to immorality. He explained that most of these parents are hypocrites who do a lot of evil during other days but still come to the mosques for prayers.
“Such parents are a failure to our younger generation. They should set good examples for our young generation to emulate,” said Guyo.
He called on parents to ensure their children live in ways that please Allah.
