Speaking from his office today, the county quality and standards officer, Luke Shiroya, said that the government’s contribution towards education is evident stating that by introducing bursaries, the government had literally put money in the citizens’ pockets.

Shiroya said that the project is indiscriminate since it does discriminate based on the social standing. Following the right procedure, getting bursaries is easy.

He said that if a student passes and they have no means to pay school fees, or if the parent feels their salary is not sufficient to cater for school and basic needs then the student qualifies for a bursary fund.

He said that the procedure to acquire CDF bursaries is very simple since you only have to visit your local chief and fill in a form indicating your details and those of your child.

Shiroya said he did not understand why a child would miss to go to school yet free primary and secondary education bursaries were available.

He advised parents to view education as an element that is here to stay and therefore take full advantage of bursaries.
