Police in Kikuyu Sub County are searching for a middle aged woman who is alledged to have attempted to have an abortion. According to a neighbour, Anita Njoroge the suspected woman had previously made several unsuccessful abortion attempts. ‘I tried my best to encourage he, but she kept saying that she had had enough children and she was already struggling to raise them on her own,’ said Anita. She explained that her neighbour was no responding to her calls and even had left her children the whole day which was unusual and she finally responded she told her that she was trying to gather some money to undergo abortion. Anita then went to Kikuyu Police Station where she reported the matter. Speaking in his office on Sunday, the Kikuyu OCS Senior inspector Joshua Arende said that abortion is unlawful and anyone found attempting the act will be arrested. He also added that police were search for the suspect and investigations were underway. However the OCS urged residents in the area to report of any suspected act on the same to the police to launch investigations and fight this crime in the society. He however send a warning to medical centres that engage in this act that they will be brought to book and will be after she had shared with them of how she got pregnant without her wanting to.She explained that charged for such a crime.
