Kiambu Township residents have been urged to attend public forums so as to actively participate in the county government’s administration.

Speaking on Monday at a forum in Ndumberi, Kiambu Township ward administrator Mr Anthony Kibathi said resident’s participation in public forums is important as it will enable the county government to reach out to all residents even the ones living in rural areas.

Kibathi said the public forums were usually announced to mobilise residents to attend in large numbers citing church announcements and public announcements as meduims which the county government used to invite residents to attend the forums.

He added that it was through the forums that the county government was able to asses and gain the resident's opinion on the running of county affairs.

He noted that the residents of Kiambu are made aware of ongoing projects by attending public forums noting that experts present at the forums give the residents detailed reports.

“The best way to reach out to all the residents of Kiambu is by holding a public forum where we discuss county affairs and also get to learn what is happening on the ground, even in places where county officials cannot access,” said Kibathi.

James Mugo, a resident, said that he was able to air out his views about the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews in todays forum.

He also added that he was able to get to know about ongoing projects within the county citing a smoking zone that is set to be constructed at kiambu Town.
